Alternator Help!!!!

I have an 89 4.0 and the alternator has three wires. Red straight to battery, and a connecter with a yellow wire and a tan/black wire. I had to repair this connector but did not verify what the orientation of the yellow wire and the tan/black wires were. Can someone tell me which goes towards the top and if one of these wires should have a constant voltage? Thanks.

I don't know the orientation; however, the FSM shows it as a 4 pin connector with the pins labeled in order as P, L, F, and S. The yellow wire goes to pin F and the tan wire goes to pin L. The yellow wire comes from the ignition switch and probably doesn't have any voltage on it when the switch is off. Per the diagram in the FSM, the S pin is bigger than the others and the F pin is next to it.
