Front axle strength question

I have an old 86/92 XJ that has selectrac (body and axles are 86 and the rest is 92). The front axle has CV style universal joints that are protected by rubber boots. These boots crack up every few years and I am tired of fixing them. I have a front axle from a 93 XJ that has normal u-joints on the front axle but before swapping the shafts I was curious as to which type was stronger. If the CV style is stronger I'll stop whining and replace the boots.
