Anyone ever try to rebuild a steering box? I just ordered the kit. Should I just bite the bullet and buy the rebuilt one or try it on my own? Special tools? TIA
Neil
I say get the rebuilt. I tried going thru one, and for some strange reason, I couldn't get the thing to seal. Despite having built several dozen of the old "inch" Saginaw boxes without a hitch, I couldn't get the input seal to take and it kept blowing Pitman seals...
So, get the rebuilt unit and save the hassle. It's easier that way... I fought the box in my 89 for a week before I caved and had done with it!
