I have a 2001 XJ and looking to purchase an ARB front bumper

The pre97 has more tire clearence because of the shorter ends. But will it install on a 2001 XJ ?

from what i've been told, it mounts the same as the newer model arb.

It does bolt right up but it mounts differently (not as far back)

The 97+ bar does have less tire room but it also is thinner at the ends and allows for a little better approach angle on the corners. Whether or not that will ever come into play for you is questionable but I've hit mine. You could always cut the excess wrap arounds on the 97+ to the pre97 length.
