Does the 207 tcase have a 23 spline shaft to the transmission????

Which transmission?
The manuals should be 21-spline, but I just saw a post yesterday or the day before saying the early automatics used a 23-spline connection to the transfer case. I have no way to verify that, and I don't know if it only applies to the 228/229 Selec-Trac models.

Okay here's what I want to do take the 904 out of 86MJ and put it in my 86XJ that has a 4sp manual and all I need to know is if the MJ has a 207 then will the 904 be a direct fit to my XJ that has a 207???

Not sure but my 84 has the 904 and NP207 so I would think it would work.
