In a poker run, stations are set up along a trail, and when each participant arrives at that station, they get a card, totaling 5 cards for a hand. At the end of the run each participant turns in thier hand, then usually at dinner afterwards, the winning hand is announced and a prize is awarded. Participants pay for the run including one hand, and they can buy additional hands, picking up a card for each hand at each station along the trail. One card can be handed out at the beginning, three along the way, and one at the end.

Toys for Tots is a Marine Corps reserves program to collect toys for needy children to be given out each Christmas. You can contact the reserves unit in your area to coordinate your own Toys for Tots drive, and give the toys to the local unit. Each toy can be good for the cost of admission to a function, or for a ticket in a drawing, or anything else you might come up with.

Hope this helps,
