has anyone tried to tint there own rear window with the rear defroster. have any problems?

No problems! I have tinted windows for over 5 years have never had a problem.

Same here. I've had it for a couple of years -- no problem.

I actually removed my rear window to do it. You can lay it down flat. Makes it reeeally easy.

Don't know about your '89, but my '91 rear window(hatch) pops out like it was a feature that was designed in.

I used tinted static cling widow film on the back window of our XJ (electric defrost). Granted it's not as nice looking as a professional applied window tint, but for the money it looks fine.

all you gotta do is just slap on a thin layer of mud and your good to go, itll keep the sun outa your eyes and itll look cool goin down the highway!

Mud tint?! muhahaha thats great... that reminds me i saw a pic of a truck with vinal mud graphics the yestday...hahahahahaahahah can we say "poseur"
