Hey xjers
Just finished swapping out my 2000 4.0 with a '98 Durango steering gear box. I noticed it turns much quicker now, yet I still seem to have a dead spot, and when I accelerate, it turns sharper..
Anyone have an idea what's causing this? Could I have bought a faulty reman?
Thanks!

When I rebuilt a Durango box I noticed mine had a variable rate gear in it that moves the pitman faster as you move away from center and that the sector shaft doesn't travel a full 90 degrees like the stock box so you need to have the pitman arm centered when going straight and it will feel a little different and turn the wheels fewer degrees. I used a modded stock pump that blew the top off the box pulling the threads out. I am on a East Texas (stock box) ram assist now and it's great.
