Sooo...my 98 has a worn out bearing in the transfer case. Replace or Rebuild? If replace, any recommendations? Thanks!

Replace or rebuild, depends on the budget, and if you have the necessary tools and skills.

They're relatively simple to rebuild, no where near the complexity of a transmission. Ballpark price for a rebuild kit is around $100, and chain is another $100.

Google says refurbished NP231J runs about $800, plus shipping a core back. A local shop could probably do the rebuild for $200 in parts plus maybe 3-4 hours labor at $100/hr.
