I been reading all kinds of post here. I'm not that smart as to what some of the abbreviations are used like TCU, ect.

Can someone point me in the right direction to lean what is what when it comes to these sensors?

Transmission control unit.

CPS is crank position sensor.

TPS is throttle position sensor.

MAP is mass air pressure.

ECU is electronic control unit. (computer)

Etc...... you'll pick it up as you read on.......look to the context of what is being discussed.

The M is Manifold, as in intake manifold, and I think the A is Absolute other wise great answers:

"MAP is mass air pressure."

Thus Manifold Absolute air Pressure.

But my memory is no longer perfect either

The newer (non XJ) technology uses a Mass Air Flow Sensor.

VSS is Vehicle Speed Sensor

TCU Transmission Control (or Computer) Unit

CTS Coolant Temperature Sensor

IAT Intake Air Temperature sensor (aslso knows as an AIT and MAT I think)

IAC Intake Air (volume0 Controller (Idle air flow rate control valve)

CPS can also be a Camshaft Possition Sensor, or alternate name? CMK

If you come across something you dont understand just search "jeep xj ________" in google and I'm sure you'll find the answer. There's so much information about jeeps out there.

Thanks guys for taking the time. Got this bookmark. My old mine has a hard time remembering things these days.

Oh, I forgot. Guess it is time for me to try and find which one is which. LOL
