just started happening in my 98 Cherokee 4.0. last 2-3 week while driving at slower speed, it just DIES, completely. always started back up. mostly a few time a day during my time out and about. never happen at freeway speeds... until yesterday at 60.......... NUTTIN. was think fuel, but it does not sputter or hesitate... just STOPS. been poking around the internet and looking like a CPS. wanted to check in with a JEEP site to see if there were any other ideas. Thanks Lee

Since random stalling is symptom of a faulty CPS, testing the CPS would be a logical starting point.

CPS TESTING PROCEDURE 1991 –2001 4.0L H.O. engines
1. Near the rear of intake manifold, disconnect sensor pigtail harness connector from main wiring harness.
2. Place an ohmmeter across terminals 1 and 2 (See Image). Ohmmeter should be set to the 10K-or-2OK scale for this test.
3. The meter reading should be open (infinite resistance). Replace sensor if a low resistance is indicated.
