99 Hack and Tap

Greetings all,
I am well into the work on my new/used XJ. My lift will probably be mid-summer, but I am doing some planning now. My plan is to take the Dana 44 that was in my 88 and swap it over. In the old XJ, I used a hack and tap with a flange type adapter at the case (231). I had a driveshaft built with all new components just a couple of years ago, and would like to reuse it for the new build. Assuming the length is good, can I use a flange type adapter from an older style 242 at the case (going to buy new if it works)? Obviously, I will need to do some measurements before I start cutting the tailshaft down and buy parts but has anyone done a similar setup? Thanks!
