1998 jeep xj 2.5L axle swap

New to the community, anyone know if I can swap a rear axle from a 1998 XJ 2.5L C8.25(4.10) into a 1998 XJ 4.0L auto trans(old axle is a dana 35c)? thanks dave

The axle will bolt up. The driveshafts are different lengths because the 8.25 has a longer center section. Also, front and rear gear ratios must match to use 4WD. If you're running stock gears for a 4.0 AW4, then you'll need to do something about the front axle/gearing so you can continue to use 4WD.
