So one day my 4wd decided it didn't want too stay in gear. Without a second thought I got a rebuild kit and a used x case. I just did a flush and fill a few months ago and while swapping in my used case I drained the old one to find this.

My original case will get the rebuild

Didn't realize until I got my 231 out that they gave me a 242 at the jy so this just turned into a 242 swap lol

That oil looks like what came out of my 229 after blowing the viscous.

I blew the transfer case out of Rigid's JK while driving down the freeway. That was interesting.

Oil pump had no teeth left, the basket had a pretty groove cut into it and a few bearings were shot
