89 wagoneer starting problem

My friend has an 89 wagoneer straight 6 automatic 4x4. The problem started last year in February. Fuel pump stopped working and since then we have replaced it 3 times. Now recently it would start but once we let go of the key after start it would shut off. It would run fine while holding key. But now we also don't hear the pump. Tried replacing the solenoid but that didn't do it. Tried the ignition switch and that didn't do it. Any ideas?

Ballast resistor?

Yea we have changed that a couple times also

I had this problem before and it turned out to be a fused link.

Sorry, it's a fusible link. There may be more than one, located on the passenger side. The positive battery cable has a smaller cable that goes to a small junction box. The fusible link is a thick wire casing with a much smaller gaged wire inside. It suns from that box to the relay box. Look for a burned or broken.
