1999 XJ transfer case

So I am looking at picking up a 99 classic and I have a few questions.

Did the 4.0 come with a specific transfer case? How do I know what one is it in? NO242 or np231?

I have been out of the the XJ game for about 8 years so please go easy on my.

I tried to search on this but I cant find anything. Im sure this has been gone over 1,000 times though.

You can either get under the jeep and look at the tag on the back of the transfer case or look at the shifter inside the jeep. The 231 t-case will have 2wd, 4hi, neutral, and 4lo. The 242 t-case will have 2wd, 4part time, 4hi, neutral, and 4lo.

Ben meant to type the 242 will have 4 Full-Time.
