Sorry, if this is the wrong spot. I searched as best I could and did not want to hijack another thread.

I want a mopar Heavy Duty/max cool radiator(exact fit) for my 1999 XJ, 4.0l, auto trans. Mopar itself has been less than helpful with responding.

52080104AC is '00-'01 and I have found others for '97s and '98s. what is different about 1999s that make it the redheaded stepchild?

I just put in a champion 2 core all aluminum rad for $158.
You will never need any more capacity than that.
Nice fit,works great.

careful with the champions. there are a number of ppl on here that have troubles with them.

just do a search.

I had two champion eagle 2-cores fail. They replaced 1 and then the other failed less than a year later, so didn't waste $60 shipping it back to Cali the 2nd time. It is actually the biggest part disappointment/loss I've had in the past 5 years.

Don't sweat this... get one and put it in. I've got one in my '99 and it fits/works great!

Thanks. I think I'm going to order one. It sucks to throw that money away though, if something is off.
I have been searching for a couple of months. Rock auto and finally Mopar tell me its not compatible with the 1999 but they can't say why. A vin search on all the dealer/oem sites say the 52080104AC is not compatible. They show 1998, 2000-2001. This does not seem right.

I've looked at all the others. mixed reviews on most of them. I'd prefer the mopar.

Don't sweat it. It will fit.

So, I purchased the Summit Racing radiator. It does not come with the fittings that connect the transmission cooler lines to the radiator and surprisingly, the connectors from my 18year old radiator are not reusable.

Summit racing's response was "We do not have those fittings, sorry". Ummm, what? It is described as an poem replacement with no modifications necessary. So, This looks like a sweet radiator but its unusable.

I called a dealer in a nearby town with no luck. Anyone have any thoughts about where I might find the fittings? I am not even sure that the poem fittings will screw into the SR radiator.

Thanks - LC

Take it to a store that has those fittings and start test fitting different ones. If you can get the thread pitch from the summit radiator and the fitting type for in and out on tranny (one was threaded and the other was quick disconnect for me) you can easily make an adapter. Or you could screw in nipples to the radiator and run new rubber tranny lines and hose clamp to the metal tranny lines.

Hardly summits fault you need more than one part. Just because its 20 years old, doesnt mean summit has to ship you every part that touches the radiator...

It is an oem replacement, and the fittings dont change that.

xcm,

As I recall, the factory radiators fittings are not removable and the common parts store radiators include them.

LoudClear,

Attach a photo of those radiator fittings for us please.

The upper is a standard inverted flare fitting, replaced mine with a section of 3/8" brakeline as an adapter. Has been leak free for the last three years.
Usually he lower is soldered in place to the cooler (on the stock alu/plastic rads I have purchased, I'm guessing this one will have a similar fitting to the upper. It should be something standard in any event. the picture shows two similar sized plugs.
