Looking at getting back into xj after a 6 year hiatus, what do you guys think about this for a DD/hobby/family hauler. Says no knocks or slaps from the motor.He doesn't know where the oil leak is from but it doesn't drop the oil level. He adds water every 3-4months. Says the head is for sure not cracked . New steering u joints. Not sure what locker or ratio. I know 98 is a good year and this is the top of my budget. Sooo, whatcha think?

Thats cheap. Here in co they go for double that for a stock one. Doesn't look too bad

As long as it's not a total rust bucket underneath, it looks like a pretty good deal.

If it runs fine, that would be a good price in SoCal.
It doesn't appear to be eaten by rust but do check the floors, under the carpet and give the undercarriage an inspection.
You do live in a moist climate and XJs love to rust.

locked rear? never been offroad?...that dont compute. i would be wary of that. especially how its locked

The rear axle most likely has a limited slip differential.
If it is a true locker, it has value, it can be used or sold, to help recoup the purchase price.
I would go inspect and drive it, to end the speculation
