Rear gate striker latch

So I was trying to figure out if I have to get under the Jeep to undo these screws & if I had to drop the tank, so I took a look at the FSM. They show these two "screws" as being torx. However, they aren't on mine. Before I waste time trying to use vice grips to get these out, is there an easier way?

They are under the bumper. There should be two nuts holding that thing on there.

Will I have to pull the bumper then?

No. You should be able to fish a socket on an extension up to the nuts that need to be removed.

The nuts are just under the floorpan sheetmetal, hidden behind the little plastic vanity on top of the bumper. Once you get eyeball on the nut, its unbelievably simple
