231 to 242 swap: are there driveshaft length differences?

My 231 is starting to get chain slap at low speeds, and I have a 242 that I've been thinking of swapping in. Does anyone know if there is a difference in case length that would require a new rear shaft? I currently have a Rubicon express H/T SYE and if I need a new shaft, I really like the tom woods SYE. (I'm looking for an excuse to get it...)

Other details:
I have an AX15 - yes I know this is a non-standard swap but the case is OEM.
 
OK, so the shift gate is needed, is that only for the detents or is there a difference in throw?

Additional caveat, I have the boostwerks shift linkage and ground most of the detents off of my stock gate.
