Yeah its my turn for that

Engine suddenly quit on me while I was out of state. No gurgle or nothing, just off. Roadside service towed me to a Firestone shop, luckily the tech was a Jeep guy. He diagnosed for a while, no spark and no injector pulse. We agreed it was probably crank sensor, so they threw one on, but still no good. Distributor has some slop so maybe cam sensor. Either that or computer. Rented a u-haul and tow dolly to get the POS home instead of paying them to throw parts at it. Place your wagers.

I'm betting on the cam position sensor in the
distributor. Had two failures on that one. On
my 96 the magnet separates from the stator
and the engine stops cold...

yeap, that's what happened with this one

It's unnerving when the engine stops dead like that, for no
apparent reason.

On my replacement cam sensor, I added some extra
epoxy adhesive to try to keep the magnet in place.

Haha. I had that happen on my 96 once. At the exact moment it happened, I was driving an employee to a random drug test that he got selected for.
