hi all,

could someone post subject roof rack dimensions.
I like the way it looks and the plan is to make it myself something similar.

Just a heads up, I was going to go the roof rack route as well.. first time out I just had my spare ratchet strapped to my factory rails and had to stop mid-trail to pull it off because I couldn't fit under a tree that had fallen across the trail while the other 5 rigs went under no problem. That made my decision easy, time to save the pennies for a rear carrier.

I'm not worried about a low tree either. But I am worried how the 80lbs up high will act. But I know I don't want the weight leveraging on my rear.

true, overall dimensions are there.
The question is what's the base/side pipe dia and if that's sufficient for present owners.

I'd say they are 1" OD and probably 120 wall. And over the 4' or so of the roof it would rip the rain rails off before bending down into the roof.

I'm using 3/4" 065 wall and over the width of the XJ I can stand (146lbs) in the middle of the tubing with minimal flex.
