My buddy just called and he is broken down away from home near glamis ..works for railroad. He has a wj with the 242 . Drive shaft busted in rear due to upper mount failure. Can he remove the drive shaft or will it leak fluid

Yes, remove the driveshaft and put it into 4hi.

242 is ok, if it's a 249 he will ruin the viscous coupler in the tcase.

Even if it has a slip yoke that leaks, it won't be a pressure leak, should be good to drive a ways in fwd.
