Alternator Output Wire Upgrade Questions.

Have the Cable/Wire to Do It & would Like to Upgrade my Alternator Output to 4GA.
I have a '96 Cherokee XJ 2 Door w/4.0 HO I-6 & 117A Alternator.

My Questions Are :
1) Can I Safely Run the 4GA from the Alternator Straight to the Post On the PCM w/ the Pos.(+) Battery Cable?
This Is Where the Stock Cable w/ 10GA Fusable Link Is Connected.
(My PCM Has One Post)
OR.....
2) Can I Run it Straight to the Pos.(+) Battery Clamp/Terminal?
And...
3) Do I/Will I NEED to Install an Inline Fuze or Breaker for Either Way?
(Does or Has Anyone Successfully Done this Without one?)
4) What's the Safest/Best Way to Do This Upgrade?

Have Read Various Posts Here & on Other Jeep Forums.
Everyone seems to be Using a Mega Fuze or Circuit Breaker.
Was just Wondering if a Straight Hookup would be Reliable/Safe.

run a fused link to the battery and separate links from the battery to the PDC and starter

run a fuse that is close to max alternator output

some people use maxi fuse, some people use ANL fuse, depends on preference and what's available

ehall,
Just Purchased a Waterproof 4GA In-Line ANL Fuse Holder & 150A ANL Fuse.
It'll be Here Next Week.
Thanx for the Quick Reply.
I figure: It's Better to B Safe than Sorry.
My '96 XJ Already Had the 4Ga Cable Upgrades on the Rest of the Battery Cables.
Alternator Is the Only one I Found w/ 6GA Wire.
Also Gonna Upgrade the Firewall Ground Strap w/ 4GA Copper Battery Cable.
Looks Like it's pretty Corroded.
I've Already Grounded the Battery Directly to the Chassis too.
Maybe this Will Help w/ Voltage Drop when using Fog Lights, Hi-Beams & Heater w/ Stereo On.
Thanx Again,
