2 doors with rocker replacement up to door sill

Who's done it? I wanna bring it way high. All the way up to the bottom of the door sill and trim like 1-2" off the door. Seems a lot easier for four doors because they don't have that lower 1/4 in front of the rear tire. So let's see some pics and any advice on how to tackle this

I have a 4 door but when I cut my rockers all the way up to the door sill the floorpan and the lower seatbelt mounts became an issue. I wound up cutting out the floor and lower seat belt mounts and installing racing seats with custom frames and 5 point harnesses.

I can't find EricsXJ build thread but I used a few ideas from him. Reinforcing the a-pillar was a great idea.

This thread is a good read and has a few pics from how I did mine: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1101503

i did it on my 4-door and had no issues with the seat belt mounts. i didnt put the new rocker up against where those bolts come through. i did have to cut the floor a bit for the support braces though.

the seat belt mounts are behind the rocker. i simply did not push it up against them. but you can see where i cut the floor for the supports

I went to the sill on mine, but also pushed the 2x6 out a bit for clearance at the floor.

I also welded a piece if 1/4" plate on like a mini boat side, but left a couple inches of flat steel for jack points.

heres how I did mine

Had rot creeping up the b pillar and had to cut high enough to find sone solid metal but didnt want to have to mess with the window. Needed to fold the lip of the bottom of the doors flat and trim a little but overall I'm really happy with them, way more clearance than the jcr sliders I had before.

welded in a piece of angle to help set the 2x6

tied into the frame stiffeners with 1.75 dom. I'll probably skin them with uhmw at some point too

Yewww!! Thanks man exactly the kind of visuals I needed.

I too have the Jcr stage 3 sliders and I like them but I'd like to get as much clearance before the cage gets tied into it

Why not use something other than 2x6? I cut the rockers out and used 1.5 x .188 dom tucked to the door sill with four legs tied into the unibody stiffners. It works just as well but saves some weight.

I did mine a little over 2 years ago. I chose to use 2 x 5 x 1/4 rect. tubing, as I didn't want it sticking out as much since I was adding some round tubing to the outside of it, for side clearance. I think I used 1-1/2 x 3/16 square for the frame supports on the back side. I don't have a write up, but I have about 30+ pictures that document the whole thing. It came out very nice and I have wheeled mine hard all over Arizona and New Mexico.
