Steering box case failed

I just recently did the wj pump swap on my 98 with a 4.0 started it up sounded great tool it on a trial run engaged the front locker and did a full turn on a gravel road there was a loud bang and a 2 inch chunk of the case broke apart between the between the box and the radiator what would cause this???

The WJ pump puts out a LOT more pressure when it is not set up where it is also driving the cooling fan. If you turn it hard to lock and hold it there, the forces the piston causes at the end of the range of travel are considerable and probably were simply too much for the casting to take.

Okay that makes sense but how do I make it so it doesn't happen again when I replace the gearbox

YJ 4 bolt box or durango maybe? PSC if ya got the $$$
