You will have to do a combination of these threads for an early 2 door.

No problem, took me a while to do the research when I first started looking for my 2 door swap.

After reading all the links you sent ,it seams the EZ way out is to either find some good XJ 2 door seats or get mine fixed up ,so at the JY I'm looking for just 88 and 89 seats?

Pre-95 seats should be plug n pray. The difference in the later ones is that there was a brace added across the floor so the front of the base mounts vertically vs straight to the floor. An easy way to make newer seat bases work is to use some angle iron. drill holes for the seat bracket on the vertical part and drill holes for the bolts in the floor.

If you find a good seat but the covers are crap, just swap covers off your old seat to the new frame. I've done that more than once on my 90'.

This is a Nice Thread. I've scoured Google for most of my Sunday afternoon to find an answer, and STILL haven't seen the Swap done in the "direction" that Im seeking.

I have a '96 XJ Two Door. Seats are MISERABLE after about 20mins. I keep looking at the EARLY XJ Seats. The ones which [appear] to have BIG bolsters, and adjustable headrests. They look like a great starting point for excellent support. Whether they need new foam due to age, that can be assessed case-by-case.

Now, I understand that the floorpans are quite different, thus, making the mounts themselves Very different. What I want to know is, do the EARLY seats fit on the "Later" ['95+] Mounts ? Even with a little jabbing, I'm good with that.

I have only read of people doing WJ, or ZJ swaps, which don't quite fit my .... aesthetic. And it seems A Lot have put '95+ in to pre-'94 [?] I am trying to do the OPPOSITE.

Anyone with experience .... ?
Thanks !
