0331 & 7120 head questions?

#1 - Are all heads compatible with different years engines or are they year specific?

#2 - Are all 0331 heads with out the "tupy" stamp junk? I know most 0331's crack when they overheat but are they decent equipment otherwise if the coolant system is not abused?

The reason why I am asking is because there is a 2001 Cherokee with an 0331 head that looks good and a 98 Cherokee with a 7120 that looks good as well. Thinking about pulling these and having them rebuilt, using one on a 99 Cherokee 4.0 rebuild and selling the other to cover my expenses.

What do you guys know/think?

Unless it says TUPY, I would go with the 7120.

7120 and 0630 heads interchange. 0331 have different exhaust ports and installing older heads on a 2000-01 requires an adapter plate. If an 0331 is not abused by lack of routine cooling system maintenance, they should be fine. Mine has 1350,000+ miles. If buying a used 0331 head, I would only buy a TUPY.
