1990 xj fuel pump problem

Hey guys 1st post, hope it's in the right spot. I am possibly getting a 90 xj in the next week. I went and checked it out and it wouldn't start did some testing and what not and replaced the fuel pump drove it parked it went over to seal the deal a few days later. Now it won't start AGAIN. I check some things pull the fuel pump and now the new one is dead... I hot wired it to my batt and nothing. So , my question is did I get a bad pump or do I have a killer short?? Bad pump. A short anywhere couldn't hurt the pump. Too bad you didn't get a Bosch pump.

Replace pump because it is doneso but comfirm electrical integrity of circuit after install as well as the amperage draw of the pump.
