No, knock sensor wires run to the front of the engine before dropping under the manifolds.

That little connector you are holding in your hand in the second pic is the coolant temp sensor connector

nope. Really no need to other than aesthetics. they are clipped on both ends, electrically dead.

There was a TSB to replace the CPS with one that went directly to the ECU. The tech was supposed to tape the "old" wires back to eliminate this kind of confusion.
