New versus Old, Spark and Fuel Testing

With the older Jeeps and vehicles it was easy to check for spark and fuel, but the new EFI and coil on plugs have this old man at a loss. Just how do test for spark with a coil on plug as in a 2000 4.0L engine? How about testing for fuel on this same engine. On the older Jeeps you could pull a plug to check for spark and look into the carburetor or throttle body injection system and see the press of fuel being delivered.
Thanks,
Bill

checking for spark; pull the coil rail off without disconnecting the elec plug. install 6 spark plugs in the boots and ground them... crank and see if they all spark.

Checking for fuel.. install a fuel pressure gauge on the test port to confirm pressure.

Check for injector fire requires a noid light or a 12v test light. Pull a injector plug and install the test/noid light in place of the injector and crank the engine.

FYI
If the cam sensor is not correctly positioned, the PCM will see a no-sync condition and shut off injector pulse after 3-4 revolutions so as not to flood the engine.
