Indiglo White Face Gauge Problems?

Is it typical for the indiglo white faced gauges to be problematic? They seem to come and go as to when they will actually illuminate the gauges. Recently replaced the main light switch and the gauges still do not illuminate. Currently I think it is an issue with the dimmer/ switch box that allows the gauges to switch from blue to green. Is it worthwhile to try to fix these gauges, or should I start buying parts to put it back to stock configuration?

i never had an issue with mine. tapped them into the stock switch, ran it that way for 2 years or so in my 93.

Ok. I will keep trying to diagnose them.
