99 XJ idle fluctuating between 750-1100 rpm no vacuum leaks. We're in the midst of a 2k road trip and will soon be in the boonies and away from convenient auto parts stores and will not have internet. Help!

Check your IAC, if it hasnt been changed or at the minimum cleaned off in a while that may be the cause.

Many thanks. Will do in the AM before we hit the road. Any other thoughts?

Start the jeep, disco the plug from the iac. see if anything changes. Should be able to drive it with iac disco'd unless you replace it.

Cleaned the TB and IAC, purring like a kitten! Thanks all!
