Power Steering Pumps

Quick question. Is there a difference between pumps. I can't find a definitive answer other than every year having different part numbers. From what I can SEE it looks like they are the same?

I'm seeing 87-96 pumps then 93-01 then 96-01. But they all look the same.

I have a 93. I changed my bad pump to a 96+ OEM pump as that was what I got locally. They are not the same but I got it to work. I believe the newer pump uses a longer thru bolt. So for the 96 pump to work on my 93 I tapped and installed a helicoil so I could install. +50,000 miles and works great.

I think the only difference between the 93 with the early pumps (pre 93) is the cap but I'm not sure.
