Cutting sheetmetal

I've seen a couple pics of people drilling holes before cutting I take it this is to start the cut but why? why not start the cut with the wheel?

is it for a jigsaw?

its difficult to do a radius with a cut off wheel. i can be difficult to (cleanly) do small radiuses with a jigsaw. sometimes its just better to drill holes or use a hole saw and connect the dots.

You can get cheaper saws but this one does what it says.. low vibration.
Used it for fender trim and hood vent install. Great piece of gear. Would not even try cutting sheetmetal with a wheel after using this.
