My cat it cloged but I don't have the cash for the replacement. Will hollowing out my cat help or hurt my truck?

If its clogged, punch it till you can get another. It will do more harm than good leaving it clogged.

It is against federal law to tamper with emissions control equipment on any road operated vehicle. (And it is against forum rules to discuss tampering of said equipment.)
If you have an 02 sensor behind the cat, it will hurt performance. I would find a replacement to stay legal.

Rear O2 sensor does not effect fuel trims, it is referred to in manufacturer literature as a cat efficiency sensor. Fuel trims are run off the pre-cat O2 sensor. Because you are not effecting pre-cat airflow it will not effect performance on the surface, however a light will come on. On the other side, it is illegal, and punishable by large fines so...

How do you know it's clogged? One would think you would get a CEL from the downstream O2 sensor if it is.

I do have a lazy o2 sensor would that cause it to feel cogged and yes on an 88 xj
