I need help locating my coolent temp sensor. I believe I might have found it but not sure. Alos do I need to drain any fluids befor changing?

Oh oh oh........ I know this one.

Driver side back of the valve cover. Looks like a little spark plug with a single black wire going to it. It's at the top of the system, you won't loose more than a drop or two of coolant.

Note that another, different temp sensor is located on the driver side radiator that is the t-stat for the electric fan.

The sensor on the radiator tank switches the electric fan on.
The sender on the back of the head is for the gauge on the instrument panel.
The RENIX temp sender, for the ECU, is on the driver side of the block, under the intake and exhaust manifolds.

If you have friends, and a shop vac, you can pull a vacuum on the cooling system and keep most of your coolant in the block. Otherwise, the law of gravity prevails.
