[FONT=&quot]Long time lurker on here so I figured I would post a little build thread of my MJ that I've been working on slowly since 2011. This is how she sits at the moment. Plenty of stuff left to do which I'll update as I go along.

When I first brought it home.

Almost no rust on it. The entire undercarriage/frame had been undercoated which kept everything pristine. Just the usual on the upper rear bed fender.

So I started with the interior. New carpet pulled the dash for a new heater core, all new sound system and I'm a fan of bench seats so a reupholstered one will work just fine.

Next up on the list was the cooling system. I basically replaced everything and ditched the closed system. Champion 3 row aluminum radiator and dirt bound triple fan system keeps the Jeep nice and cool.

Had to either change the input of my 231 or buy a new one so I went the easy route and got an NP241 OR out of a 2006 TJ Rubicon to go with the Ax-15

And with that a new drive shaft

And this nifty Novak shifter

Then it was the long wait while she was at the painter.

Finally picking her up from the painter in July 2013

Couple little things to fix. the passenger side axle seal on the 8.8 is leaking, the blower motor is shot something catastrophic happened and it sounds like a dying cat.

Next up is Armour, sliders, skids and ditch the crappy stock rear bumper for something a little more sexy and protective!

Wow, very nice! That's a hell of a clean MJ for the northeast.

that thing is real nice, i would ruin that very quickly....

Yes! I got very lucky, hardly any rust.

Judging by your avatar I bet you would!

great choice of t-case loved mine...beautiful mj
Can't say I love mine, it's been giving me issues. At the moment it will not come out of 4 wheel drive no matter what position the shifter is in. :flamemad:

Nice MJ. Love the flat flares.

Thanks.

Have you tried putting it in reverse and barking the tires? Sometimes 231s don't like to come out of 4x4 because the mode fork rides on the top of the shift cam inside, and is spring-loaded back into RWD, so if the chain's still got tension on it (and will forever because of a minor tire wear/pressure mismatch, etc) it'll stay in 4x4 forever from the loading on the shift dog teeth. But if you put it in RWD, then bark the tires in reverse it usually unloads the shift collar enough to let it slip out of 4x4.

Wow that's great information. Thanks I'll give it a shot.

I've never had to go to such lengths however I commonly shift it back into 2WD, come to a stop, back up ten feet, then continue on my way forward. That typically clears up any of the typical bind.

Ended up taking it out to mess around with. Was driving me nuts not coming out of 4wd. put the old 231 back in for now. After playing around with it outside of the truck of course now it appears to be working. I just couldn't get it to unbind at all.

Update:

Put the np241 back in and surprise surprise it is stuck in 4wd again. This transfer case has been nothing but a giant headache and the novak shifter cable is pretty worthless to go along with it.

But good news. Sliders are on!

So I ordered a JCR bumper and put it together with a few modifications
