New gear engagement

Is this pattern acceptable? I have 6 thou backlash

So where I ended up on drive is pretty darn center

The marking compound is way too dry to see the pattern very well, you need to dilute it with gear oil to make it thinner. Drive looks good, but coast is way too shallow. Can you add .010" shim to pinion. The goal is to make both patterns look acceptable, not just one.

Looks like too much gear marking compound and way too shallow in the first pics.
