I am buying a 97 with a bad head and already have a 89 parts rig with a good head.Also have heard of bad castings in the 94-97 heads so if it will work I would like to use the 89 head.

2000 and later were the only ones with bad heads.

If you use the 89 head, be sure to use the intake gasket for the 97. The intake ports aren't a perfect match but they'll work.
