Drive shaft question

Need to replace my drive shaft. It's a 94 4.o, Ax15, np231, with a 8.25 rear diff, 2in lift.
Auto dismantling yard search reveled only one available in state for almost as much as paid for the Jeep.
So was thinking I'd get one for a D30 and have it cut down. so the questions are. Is an aw4 shaft longer or shorter then an AX15 shaft? Are all the XJ np231 slip yokes splined the same?

I did search for a couple hours and found everything but what I wanted to know!

Thanks for an info you can pass on

You make no mention of a SYE.,So a front drive shaft will not fit. They attach to the TC in different ways.

I guess I didn't say which shaft I needed. Need the rear shaft. So are there any differences in rear shafts and slip joints for the years that had np231 cases and is a aw4 shaft to short to cut to fit with an 8.25 diff. Running a stock shaft, no SYE
