I have a set of plastic tools but I want to get a metal one to get this disconnected... anyone know what size tool I should get to disconnect that coupler?

Pliers with curved jaws if you don't have the exact tool.

I believe all the QD lines (at least on a later model) are 5/16 and 3/8. 5/16 fuel and 3/8 for the trans plumbing?

I forget what size I used, but I used the QD tool and the problem was that the fitting had never been off before. I had to break it loose using WD40 rust penetrater and twist and pull it out with the QD tool in there.

3/8" disconnect tool. NAPA sells it in a set of different sizees for 9 bucks. It's plastic but solid.

How do you slip a metal tool over the line? I thought the idea of plastic was so you could spread the gap to get the tool over the line.

The plastic ones work just fine.... it was only an issue because the line was rust frozen on there (not the tabs)... I had to twist and pull it out.
