Lighting in the front skid plate?

I'm thinking about modifying a factory front skid plate to mount 2 6" LED light bars, like these on the back side of it. Cut holes in the skid plate to let the light shine through, add angle iron to brace the skid, and keep the light far enough back that the skid plate hits the rock first.

My question is whether I'd be able to get a useful driving light pattern out of something located low & center, or if I need to find another spot for them.

I'd thought about putting the factory bumper skin back together & using LED bulbs in factory fog lights. I still may. Keeping a skid plate between rocks & the light fixture, though, seems more durable.

Thoughts?

problem would be that being behind the skid plate would limit the amount of light getting out. The skid plate is going to block a lot of light. Plus that low is going to catch a LOT of debris.

Good point - I'd have to either fully box the mounts around the light, which means I couldn't aim it, or get it super close / flush mount it and at that point, the light is low & not protected.
Probably better off getting flush mount Dually lights from Rigid or similar & putting them in the bumper.

I like it , but its kind of a pain in the ass when you want to work on the rig .
Bending it back into a shape to get it re-installed was a major P.I.T.A. !

Well, that looks cool at least

Hmm. Could do something similar but full width & run an LED light bar in there. Still not sure about placement but that would look sick & be out of the way of the bumper / grill area.
