Bell Ringer

Get a helper to turn the engine off and on repeatedly, while you check under the hood and under the Jeep. I have heard a lot of Jeep noises but never a bell.

Chime module?

No, my 96 has the buzzer type. It's coming from the underneathe the hood. I changed the waterpump and fan clutch and I feel like it started after that. I thought I may have put the fan shroud in wrong and the fan was hitting it but I can find any evidence of contact. It's directly related to the engine RPMs though. It will ding about four 3-6 times and they seem to get further apart as the engine slows and dies??????

Going on a limb here, because I had the same kind of bell sound on mine.

What happened with mine is that the rearmost exhaust hanger had cracked and when I shut the truck off, the tailpipe would hit against the hanger, making a single bell ring.

Re-welded the hanger and gone!!
