89 4.0 aw4, reverse works fine, when shifted into drive doesn't even react. No rpm change or anything. Just bought it this way and haven't torn into it at all, planning on a swap but wondering if it's electronic?
If you pull the fuse in the TCU harness maybe 6 inches away from the TCU, up behind the glove box, you should be able to shift manually, less one gear. This should tell you if it is electrical or something more nefarious.
