Just put in a fancy a dome light with vanity lamps from a 1999 to 2001 XJ and putting it in your 1997 to 1998? Then you probably noticed the dome light function is reversed, meaning the light turns on with the doors closed.
The solution is simple! In the connector at the light, cavities A and C, the pink(B+) and black(Ground) wires were swapped between those years. Either use a tiny screwdriver to release the pins and swap them or splice the wires to swap them.
