Transfer Case Linkage WTF

What's wrong here?

It looks like the second piece of linkage in the back was installed at a funny angle, right? Could this be why I had problems slipping out of 4wd and getting into low range?

do you have a transfer case drop? looks like it, and the bracket wasn't lowered on the frame side accordingly. This would cause binding in the linkage.

from the looks of it you probably need to adjust the linkage as well.

Does the TC skid plate that comes with the Rough Country 6.5" long arm kit automatically lower the TC? I don't have any spacers between the skid plate and the frame, but I did not install this kit.

Mine looked like this when I swapped trannys. The 5 speed was slightly smaller and shorter than the automatic. All I did was re drill the bracket.
You can lower the bracket too, rather easily.

You can convert to a direct shift--eliminating the body-to-transfercase hookup.

Novak 4x4 sells one.

Advance Adapters sells a bracket for TJs that can be used on the XJ with a couple of TJ pieces.

SEARCH--a few people have made their own shifters with all-thread and rod ends.
