TCUs -What's the Difference AA vs AB?

So what's the difference between the-
56041386AA purple sticker vs the 56041386AB brown sticker TCU?

Are they interchangable?

A letter suffix change usually indicates a running change or supplier change. I doubt there was a supplier change.

This on your 98?

Both my 'early' '98s are AA and the '99 is AB.

The 89 one would be good for someone with an 87 that has the weird shifting program.
