Any of y'all know what this is?

I could spend awhile on the internet and figure it out but then again I'm equally as sure one of y'all can tell just by looking at it.
It's been sitting in front of my bosses house for about 2 years now I think it goes in a older blazer of some sort.
And yes I know it's a front axle :)

unless you have the means of swapping it over to be a drivers side drop, then no you did not find a free upgrade. i will say this though, i have beat the crap out of some GM corporate 10 bolts with just a bolt on truss bar and never had a problem. i did once break a knuckle u-joint but that axle had been jumped and abused big time. probably had more air time than shawn white.

Axle. Probably from a truck. Or maybe a really wide car. Most likely front or rear-steer rear. Low pinion unless it's upsidedown. Allegedly 4x4 in and of itself but I can't see how that's possible without two more wheels. Evidence points toward the unit being physically heavy but looks can be deceiving.

looks like a GM corporate 10 bolt. it replaced the D44 in the early 70s i am pretty sure.
It's a 10 bolt. The only parts that will work on a D44 are the knuckles, stub axles, spindles (big bearing), backing plates for brakes and calipars.

I lol'd quietly to myself after reading this. you're such a jerk :p

You could always retube it for driver side drop.

thats what i said too. if i can get one for free i would like to do just that. i know they have not been the most desireable front axles, but like i mentioned, i beat the crap out of some and they never let me down but once.

It would be a good project if you got one for freeeeeeeeeee!.

GM 10 bolt from a full size. Most common gear would be 3.73. Or 4.10 which was in my old Burban before I ditched it for a D60

really? i remember most of them having a 3.07 factory ring and pinion. i had to buy aftermarket 4.10s because i could never find factory 4.10s in the junk yard. was your burban a 3/4 ton maybe? maybe the 3/4 and 1 tons came with the 3.73 and 4.10s. i should have clued in on that. i allways only checked the 6 lug axles. dang.

Yeah mine was a 3/4 ton it had a 350tbi/th400 combo w 4.10 gears. Yeah 3.07 sounds more common. It's been a while since I was messing with gm full sizes.
