High idle

What should I look for that causes a high idle on a stock 4.0 w/stick transmission 91 XJ. It started idling at 1300rpm when cold and 1000rpm after it warms up.

Intake manifold gasket leak (loose bolts) or leaking vacuum line first, second would be a stuck IAC or bad CTS or MAT temp sensor.

Hey Rick, you can bring it over and we can diagnose it if you want. More than likely you have a cracked vacuum line. The most common place is where it runs by the battery on its way up to the vacuum reservoir behind the front bumper.

I might be able to head down later this week if you need. Give me a call

Thanks Eecomike and Old_Man! Tom it's parked out in the cold cruel world tonight.
I'll pull it in the garage in the morning and check the easy stuff before calling you late morning Wednesday. Tom, thanks for finding my note on this board.

Yup, leaking intake manifold, #5.
